Field

Geologic area consisting of a reservoir or set of reservoirs all grouped on or related to the same individual geologic structural feature or stratigraphic feature.

How it’s important to us

It is important to note that wells are often referred to by the field they were drilled in, or that production and operations personnel may want to report on well performance aggregated by field.  Fields are separate from more structured hierarchical concepts related to a well.  They may (and often do) span across lease lines / block lines or other boundaries drawn at the surface as they are a result of geological factors.
