Non-Op (Non Operated)
This is a classification for wells that a particular E&P company does not manage the operations of. Non-Op wells will still be tracked, however, if the company owns a royalty interest in the well.
How it’s important to us
Non operated wells pose a particular challenge for many E&P companies. While wells that are operated internally have a set of standards designed within for data capture, particularly tailored to the organization’s way of doing business, non-op wells are reported differently by each operator. The operator is required to make much of their data available to all partners (daily production, for example), but they are free to determine the format they’re going to use. This presents a challenge of transforming and loading the data into the company’s production reporting system of choice.
